Claremorris Community Radio...

Presenter Shuan McCallig
Show Community Matters
When Saturday, 11am
About Presenter Shuan McCallig is better known in Claremorris by her maiden name Shuan McGarry. For most of her life she has lived in the town and worked, first of all in her mother's chemist shop and later in Flynn's Pharmacy. She loves the area and now that she is retires, she feels community radio gives her the chance to keep in touch with the friends she made during her working years. Her interests are her husband, Michael (who comes from Mount St.) and her family, painting, writing, lazy gardening and TV.

About the Show Community Matters is broadcast on Saturdays from 11am to 12am by a team of five presenters who were brought up in the area. It tries to give everybody (particularly people living on their own) a sense of belonging to an extended family of friends. People pf all ages and interests are encouraged to come and take part in the programme. There are memories of old times, details of services available (such as the IRD'S Care and Repair Service for over 55's and how to claim back your tax allowances) and a diary of events and meetings scheduled to happen the following week. There is a mix of folk, country, and 'easy listening' music too and requests are welcome. It's message is that 'Community Does Matter' and of course community matters now in these hard times than it has ever done before.
